Classes are held at St. Bernadette Catholic School on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 - 9PM. Teachers are welcome to teach either one day or both. Office Assistant - Bilingual - Manassas and Online

Overview //

Help us reach out to immigrants around Nothern Virginia! Hogar Immigrant Services Education Office serves clients with intensive English and Citizenship classes. Volunteer office assistants will help us place calls to clients, organize files, and test students. The office assistant must have good IT skills and customer service experience, preferably female who can support High Intermediate or Advanced level students; Must be available at least one half day per week during office hours (9am - 9pm) in Manassas and online. No experience needed. Bilingual (Spanish/English) or (Dari, Pashto or Farsi/English) required.

CompTIA Instructor- Virtual

Overview //

Help your immigrant and refugee neighbors earn their CompTIA certification! Instructors needed for virtual classes. The ideal candidate will have CompTIA certification or an IT background and be willing to attain the certification. Need to feel confident teaching small group of students.


The candidate must be able to commit to minimum one class per week for 14 weeks of teaching. You will receive ample curriculum and resources, training, professional development, and additional support from EWD staff throughout the semester. Please email ewd@ccda.net for more information!

Education Workforce Development - Internship

Overview //

The Adult Education Intern will get hands-on experience in program management by working with students and staff to aid and resources to individuals in the Northern Virginia area. These services include assisting with connecting students to resources and completing student check-ins and follow ups.

INTERN WILL LEARN AND BE EXPOSED TO:

· Curriculum development and lesson planning; teaching methods and classroom management

· Summative and formative assessments

· Drafting communications, program improvement, and evaluation

· Improve upon written and communication skills

· Program and project management, creating leadership and client development recommendations

· Work in a team environment with staff and volunteers

· Through one-on-one client interaction, learn about challenges and opportunities experienced by clients enrolled in the program

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Monitor and maintain records on clients/students'' progress

· Assist in contacting clients via emails and phone calls

· Manage client and student information and data

· Assist clients in learning how to use classroom platforms like Zoom

· Assist with student registrations and data collection

· Assist with coordination of student conversation groups

· Gather and organize materials and resources related to content area

· Promote our program in the community; participate in special projects as assigned

· Personal teaching portfolio with standards-aligned unit plans, lesson plans, and classroom materials

· Compile unit plans, lesson plans, and classroom materials as a resource for volunteer teachers

· Assist with program coordination of online learning program

· Assess areas in which students may require assistance

QUALIFICATIONS:

Human Development/Services, Human Services, Nonprofit Studies, or other related major
Working knowledge of at least one critical foreign language preferred (Spanish, Dari, Farsi)
Knowledgeable in use of Zoom and Microsoft Office
Must be motivated, organized, and possess professional communication skills
Commitment to the mission and goals of Education and Workforce Development program and CCDA
Genuine interest in providing services to the community; open to other cultures and beliefs
Flexible and adaptable regarding change in routines and duties
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

· Hybrid both remote and in-person shifts available

· Minimum of 12 hours/week

· Unpaid, but available for credit if desired; recommendation letters available at end of term

Citizenship Teachers- In-person or Virtual

Help your neighbors become U.S. citizens! Citizenship preparation teachers are needed. We allow teaching in pairs for those who wish to teach with a friend or spouse. No foreign language ability necessary and all materials and training provided! Classes meet twice a week for 2-3 hours. Teachers are welcome to teach either one day or both days a week. Sessions are typically three months long.
