Catholic Charities Internship Programs are seeking interns across many of our programs.

Of NOTE:


  • Applications for the Spring must be in by December 15th.

  • Applications for the Fall must be submitted by August 1st.

We provide life-saving and quality services to help newly arrived families acclimate into our communities. Interested in Public Policy, Youth Services, Community Outreach, Immigration Services, Family Reunification, Social Work, Migration Services and Advocacy, and many more.
Gain invaluable life skills while helping people who have experienced trauma and are now seeking a new life here in the United States. This may be the internship opportunity of a lifetime.

If you want to work alongside staff helping refugees, please submit your resume and cover letter and complete the attached training. When resumes are reviewed, the applicant will be contacted by the Volunteer Manager to discuss the internship requirements and interview process.

Community Outreach Internship - MRS

Overview //

Seeking Internships for the Fall and Spring Semester of 2022 and 2023 to help Newcomer families and increase community awareness about refugee needs within the community. Work alongside the Community Engagement Specialist with day-to-day operations for fundraisers, social work, international studies, and many more.

Front desk receptionist-Administrative Office, Arlington

Overview //

Volunteers are needed to provide coverage at Catholic Charities Administrative Offices front desk by answering client calls, responding to email message inquiries, and providing general adminisrative help. In this important role, you may be the first touchpoint between the public and Catholic Charities, responding to a wide variety of requests, ranging from people in need of food/shelter, donors who wish to make a contribution, refugees seeking resettlement help, etc. The role is highly flexible--you may design regular weekly shifts for the day/time that best fits your schedule.

Responsibilities include:
- Retrieve and respond to voicemail messages
- Collect and sort mail
- Greet visitors
- General administrative support

Qualifications:
- Enjoys talking on the phone
- Quick learner
- Multi-tasker
- Reliable and trustworthy
- Polite and professional
- Basic understanding of email, voicemail, and internet.
- Proficiency in Spanish is helpful but not necessary.

An interview is required and training will be provided.

Hygiene Care Kits

Overview //

The Mobile Response Center is a Catholic Charities ministry that delivers personal hygiene and cleaning supplies to poverty-stricken communities within our Diosese. We distribute monthly to approximately 100 families in Woodstock, VA as well as to other Catholic Charities Network Pantries. We provide them with much needed personal hygiene care bags and other essentials such as laundry detergent.
Families who are eligible to receive SNAP/EBT benefits are not able to purchase these everyday supplies.

Internship for Companion for Older Refugees Multiple Sites (SOR) Multiple Locations

Overview //

INTERNSHIP IS AN APPROPRIATE EXPERIENCE OR ACADEMIC BACKGROUND FOR: Gerontology, social work, critical languages, immigration studies /law, public health, peace and conflict studies, state and local government, public policy, international relations, law enforcement/community policing, health and human services, and sociology.

BENEFITS AND GOALS:

To help clients over 60 learn about acculturation challenges and opportunities experienced after U.S. arrival. Learn about holistic case management, Hands-on participation in assisting seniors to achieve self-sufficiency and eventual citizenship
Experience how government social services impact the lives of new arrivals.

DUTIES will include:


  • Orient, transport, and accompany clients to social service appointments and social events

  • Provide special services and in-home support to disabled and aging refugees as needed

  • Help with intake and documentation of new clients.

  • Assist clients with job application forms, answering hiring questionnaires, preparing resumes and cover letters

  • Assess client needs and aptitudes; register clients for ESL classes and job training

  • Identify and develop age-appropriate job opportunities for MRS senior clients through outreach to employers.

  • Assist with the development of socialization

  • skills and increasing comfort level with U.S. culture

  • Other duties as directed by the staff or supervisor

  • Must be able to complete Diocese Driver Training

Feed a Family Service Project- Chicken Bowl

Overview //

Each day we celebrate God's abundance and blessings in our lives. For those concerned for the welfare of the food insecure, this project is a great way to recognize families struggling to put nourishing food on their tables. This opportunity allows you to come together with loved ones, co-workers, or friends to assemble a meaningful and nutritious Family Meal Recipe Pack from your home, school, or workplace. Your donation will be distributed to those in need throughout the Diocese through our network of food pantries.

Feed My Lambs- Service Project

Overview //

Meal kits are used to combat food insecurity for children and students on the weekends throughout the school year. Our "Feed My Lambs" Ministry supports 5 local Prince William and Manassas City Public School. This summer we are extending this ministry to aid working families who depend on our Catholic Charities Network Pantries for support. If you would like to support hungry children within our Diocese, this is the perfect service project for you!

Migration and Refugee Services Match Grant Internship

Internship Overview:
As a Matching Grant Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in grant management and direct client services, supporting refugees in their journey to economic independence. You''ll work closely with clients during their first six months in the U.S., assisting with financial compliance, employment services, and acculturation support.Location: Alexandria
Duration: One academic year (Rolling applications)

Migration and Refugee Services (MRS) is committed to helping newly arrived refugee families successfully navigate U.S. systems and achieve economic self-sufficiency.

What You''ll Gain:

With Guidance from CCDA MRS staff, gain In-depth knowledge of case management and financial compliance within the Matching Grant program.
Direct experience mentoring refugee families, guiding them through the acculturation and employment processes.
Exposure to the challenges and opportunities faced by refugees during their initial months in the U.S.
Understanding of how government programs and social services impact newly arrived families.
Skill development in project management, financial compliance, client communication, and cultural competence.
Networking opportunities and Career Development
Key Responsibilities:

Assist with financial compliance and documentation for the Matching Grant Program
o Keeping accurate records of the program's financial transactions (e.g., expenses and reimbursements)

o Submitting required financial reports

o Ensuring that funds are used according to the guidelines of the grant

o Helping maintain organized and up-to-date financial documentation (e.g., receipts, check requests)

Mentor families, providing guidance and support during their initial six months in the U.S.
Participate in Pre-Employment Training workshops, offering resume assistance and interview preparation.
Support clients through the job application process, from resume review to interview coaching.
Manage financial records and submit check requests for clients
